Grab a Gardener makes the BBC South news!

March 21 2018

BBC news wanted to speak to our co-founders Ant & Nav about what it was like to move to a new area, with no local connections and no referral network. It was after only after months of desperation trying to find a gardener (and eventually failing), that it drove them to start the business. At the time of reporting this we were completing our latest funding round and looking to take the business national.

Co-founder Nav says:
“We were young professionals, we had moved to the area for work. We were commuting in and out of different cities. I was working in London, my co-founder Ant was working in Oxford. So we had no local connection or a network!”

Co-founder Ant says:
“It’s not just local people who struggle to find quality gardeners. It’s also the local gardeners who have to rely on word of mouth to generate business. We’re actually connecting the two sides of the market together and building long lasting relationships”.

Grab a Gardener gets busy with Channel 4’s Ugly house to Lovely House

Towards the end of 2017 we were approached to carry out some landscaping work for channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House. We worked on episode 1’s incredible renovation in Gloucestershire.

The local Gloucestershire team did an incredible job overhauling the whole front and back gardens. It went from something that was in an absolute state of disrepair, to something which the owners were incredibly proud of!

Grab a Gardener awarded a place on the prestigious Pi Labs accelerator program.

Jul 11 2017

Property Innovation Labs (Pi Labs) is Europe’s first venture capital platform to invest exclusively in early stage ventures in the property tech vertical. Pi Labs was founded to become the centre of the property innovation ecosystem. With the vision to identify, mentor, invest in and accelerate high-calibre startup ventures who have the passion and ability to create scalable businesses that will disrupt the property industry.

We were fortunate enough to be accepted onto the 5th cohort of their accelerator program which ran for 13 weeks commencing early July. Alongside the investment into the business,  Pi Labs really helped us to scale the business across the south of the UK. This helped put in place the structure to continue rapid growth and nationwide scale-up of our business.
